Just building the site took several weeks, and the co-owners spent many hours selecting candle and candle products to be sure they were of the highest quality.The site also offers candle related articles of a fun and informative nature, and visitors have the chance to 'meet' the people behind the site.

Faroy candles were first made in 1950. Two college friends named Preston Frazier and Addison McElfroy decided to make their own Christmas presents that year because they had no money to buy them. They chose to make candles, but had no intention of starting a business. Friends and family liked the creations and asked for more. At that time, the candles didn’t have a name, but the two creators came up with Faroy candles as a combination of the two surnames.
